'Vermilion is the best jewel'

LUDHIANA: Meena Gupta said vermilion is the best jewel for a married woman after winning a prize for her 'longest' vermilion during the Karva Chauth celebrations of Venus Ladies Club held at a city hotel on Dugri Road, Friday.
The Pakhowal Road resident also won a prize for carrying her husband's and mother-in-law's picture along.
Venus club members had a great time celebrating Karva Chauth as the women competed to be awarded best karva bride and best dressed lady.Even footwear got a prize for Neetu Ubi of Dugri- best pair of red sandals. A quiz was conducted to identify flags of foreign countries with red colour in them. The title of best karva bride added to the celebrations, said Damandeep Kaur of Dugri, elated to be chosen among all.
